Decision theory

Decision theory is a branch of applied cybernetics that lays mathematical foundations of optimal decisions, based on probability theory, cost-effectiveness-analyses and sensitivity analysis.

A typical application is e.g. medical decision theory that defines evidence based starting points for medical decisions, for instance in diagnostical procedures and planning of therapy.
